Mr joseph timoney, October 2012: overall, it lived up to my expectations and I had a comfortable stay.
Mrs Roslyn Garrett, April 2012: A very pleasant stay
Mrs Cara Ross, April 2012: The helpfulness and cheerfulness of staff, particularly at the Porter's Lodge and in the catering team, are to be commended, our group met with nothing but pleasant, helpful people all weekend. The cleanliness of rooms and common areas was also of a standard higher than I've found in similar university accommodation.
Ms Assumpta Hoey, April 2012: Really enjoyed my recent stay. Staff friendly and helpful. Only thing that could be improved on would be by proving something to dry the bathroom floor. It tended to stay very wet for hours after using the shower. Perhaps a rubber sweeping brush to brush the water back towards the drain?
Clare Fitzpatrick, September 2010: very clean and quiet room. excellent value for money.
S V Jordan, September 2010: Have no hesitation in staying when rooms become available and when next
visiting York City.
Joanne Fernandes, September 2010: Room was warm - nicely so. Really clean room and bathroom. Only quirk is how noisy the doors are - not just with slamming, but hinges are really noise as well and would benefit from some WD40. Overall, I have really enjoyed my stay and would recommend it to others.
Ke Yu, September 2010: Good price, a quiet room on a beautiful campus.
Amy Gibson, September 2010: I was aware that I needed to take a towel and soap, but unaware that there were no mugs or cups to use in the room. This would have been useful.
Mrs L J Barnett, August 2010: Excellent value for money
Martin Jennett, August 2010: Very helpful staff, excellent value, good facilities.
Tim Wallis, August 2010: Toilet fluorescent light/shaver point not operating.
Very basic facilities - no soap/towel, nor any access to kettles.
Mr donald obrien, August 2010: room clean and tidy great value for money and will book again
Paul Johnson, August 2010: We would have much preferred to pay upfront for parking (perhaps at time of booking online) rather than have to find £5 in coins to feed the meter every day.
Amy Moran-Jones, August 2010: My mum has arthritic hands and could not open her window herself, it was too heavy. The fire doors and thin walls mean noise carries and we were woken several times through our first few nights by noisy residents banging doors and shouting to each other. But the staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful, the rooms clean, the shower great and the bed very comfy. I thought the parking was a fair price and not too far away and the cafe bit had a good selection of items. Once the noisy people had left it was great thanks.
dr Adrian c clark, August 2010: I appreciate this was cheap and cheerful and great that towels were provided, but a small bar of soap would have been useful.
Anne Cheetham, July 2010: A nice, quiet location. And very good value for money
Jim White, July 2010: Being an ex Alcuin student I was intrigued to see what the place was like, I was happy to see the improvements around the college and really enjoyed staying back in Alcuin. The only thing i would suggest is the future is a later checkout. 9:30am is very early and i think at least 10:30am would be an idea in future
Michael Jeffrey, July 2010: very basic but good value for money
Laurence Jay, July 2010: I think it would be helpful if the advance information made it clear that as well as a towel one needs to bring soap and a mug.I brought a mug just in case but I was caught out by the lack of soap!
