Introduction

This 4 star guest house is an ideal base for exploring 1066 country, Cleavers Lyng is set in a unique area of the Sussex Weald, offering plenty to do. Visit the historic All Saints Church and Herstmonceux Castle, just a two minute walk away. Or visit the Charleston Farm House - home of the Bloomsbury set which included Virgina Woolf. Plenty of scenic country walks in the area, including Seven Sisters and Beachy Head. Explore the picturesque villages, local vineyards, golf courses, horse-riding yards and fashionable shopping centres, including Brighton, Tunbridge Wells and Eastbourne which are all only a short drive away.

All guest bedrooms are double en-suites with one converting into a twin. Rooms offer different facilities such as a seperate balcony, or separate lounge whilst others offer character features such as solid oak doors and beams and antique furniture. All rooms include wide screen flat LCD TV with integrated DVD and CD player. Quality designer bedding, fresh fluffy towels each day with luxury toiletries, radio alarm, hairdryer, tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits. Wine and drinks glasses can be provided on request. 

History to the present day

A Grade II listed building with considerable charm and character, with a history dating back to 1577. The original part of the house was built during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I and many features still can be seen today such as the oak beams and inglenook fireplace in the breakfast area.

Food and Drinks

Enjoy the full English cooked breakfast, prepared from locally sourced produce and quality ingredients such as free range eggs, butcher’s sausages, fine back bacon, button mushrooms and home-grown tomatoes (when in season). Alternatively if you prefer something a little lighter in the mornings, choose from a selection of cereals, exotic fresh fruit salad, yogurts, toast and warmed croissants served with home-made marmalade and jam. A selection of teas, coffee and fruit juices are also available. Wine and wine glasses can be supplied on request.

Grounds and gardens

Explore the one and half acres of secluded and peaceful gardens which have an outdoor seating area to watch the local wildlife.

Relax in the lounge with its large windows to take in the lovely views of the grounds and during the winter months, sit by the lit inglenook fireplace. With a selection of games available in the lounge such as cards and board games for guests use.
