Customer feedback

We guarantee that all our feedback is genuine and can only be submitted by people who have booked through our websites.

, September 2013: Having spent the full 81 days of the summer vacation at Goldsmid House, I would have to say that the room and its en-suite, the kitchen facilities, the laundry and drying facilities, the double-gated security, the housekeeping staff, and the three gentlemen at the front desk were first rate. What was there not to like? Nothing. I would be glad to stay there again, and to recommend it to my family and friends. 5/5

, September 2013: The specific location of Goldsmid House in central London has for sure, the very best public transport connections. I could quote a few examples, but there would be no point because there are buses, tubes or trains to every greater London destination I can think of. The Goldsmid House staff - from the Manager to the Cleaners are absolutely terrific - all of them. Nothing is too much trouble, whether it be a response to a local information question or one of a more general nature. I was in two differing rooms during my 62 night stay and found everything spotlessly clean and bathroom equipment working perfectly. On two occasions when there were minor plumbing problems, these were sorted out almost immediately by the Duty Manager. The free internet connection in the rooms was fast and trouble free. The washing machines and dryers in the laundry room were easy to use and always worked flawlessly. The close proximity of a Sainsbury Supermarket and two branches of Marks and Spenser Simply Food were a tremendous boon during my stay. I have every intention of once more booking a room at Goldsmid House during summer 2014. 5/5

, September 2013: good location and value. When I arrived the room was very hot, but I was glad to be able to open the window. 4/5

Ms Dorothy Markek, October 2012: I stayed at Goldsmid House in Victoria during the Olympics. Great location, large room, excellent wi-fi, very secure. So good I stayed longer than intended. Much cheaper than a hotel/b&b and better than sharing with 3 or 5 other people in a cramped dorm! Highly recommended. 5/5

Mr Ferdinando Carlucci, October 2012: I enjoyed my time in Goldsmid, very cleaner room, good kitchen and near the City Center. I will recomend to my friend. 4/5

Ms laura chappell, September 2012: I was impressed. A bit spartan, and the bathroom got very wet when I had a shower, but I was impressed with the kitchen facilities and it is overall a very good price, espeically for such a central location 4/5

Ms Marja Ahjopalo, September 2012: Very pleased with my stay. Will return! Thanks! 5/5

Ms Yasuko Sano, September 2012: Excellent place to stay. Very convenient. 5/5

Mrs Helen Winter, September 2012: Accommodation was fine although I was surprised to find room had not been decorated since students had vacated and before private bookings but this did not affect my use of the room. All staff were helpful when anything was asked. May be a few more pots and pans in the shared kitchen would have been nice but not essential 3/5

Mr Simon VANSTEENE, September 2012: I had a very good stay at Goldsmid House. Thank you. 5/5

Miss Clara Yanes Cubillo, September 2012: Very good experience, near Victoria station, very confortable room and fantastic kitchen facilities. When I arrived the pillow was dirty, but then it was replaced when I complaint. Very good room with fantastic view. And en suite bathroom. The only problem was sometimes noise at night because it was an exterior room. Good value for money. 4/5

Mrs Véronique VANSTEENE, September 2012: Hello, I've really enjoyed my stay. The reception was very friendly. One small note: in the corridor of rooms, it is too hot because of the lights switched on permanently. Thank you for this stay. 5/5

Miss yolanda villasante, August 2012: I think it was a quiet and comfortable place for my holidays .On my return I thought taht satying in G.H. had been the right choice. 4/5

Miss Rachel Thilwind, August 2012: Great location, friendly staff, all mod cons and well-maintained/cleaned. I missed a common room with TV, books etc. Perhaps during the summer months these could be installed in the kitchen? A small TV set and a stack of magazines would be perfectly adequate. Overall, fantastic value and a pleasant experience. Would definitely recommend it. 5/5

Mr M Graham, July 2012: Excellent location and adequate for stay - close to Victoria train and coach stations, Friendly staff - little noisy as overlooks road but good value for position in central London would stay there again and recommend 4/5

Ms Kay Eley, July 2012: Loved my stay. It was quiet. I felt safe. Could easily do laundry. It would help if there were small packages of detergent for sale. I had to buy a large amount and left it behind. Negative element was messy, anti-social people (a minority) who dirtied the cloths in the kitchen and didn't tidy up. However, this must be unpreventable. Thank you to UCL for this well-run residence. 5/5

Prof Susan Slater-Tanner, July 2012: Your staff--Lina and Niki were exceptional, they are gracious, professional and cordial. 5/5

Mr Ian Matthews, July 2012: Room experiences noise from trucks delivering to Sainsbury's opposite. 3/5

Mr David O'Kelly, July 2012: considering the location and time of year,it was very good value! i felt the the room was a little bit stuffy and air conditioning would have been a welcome alternative?! By opening the window a little, one was aware of lots of background services etc. The kitchen had ample appliances but lacked crockery and cutlery? Nonetheless,I'd stay there again over the coming years! Yours in appreciation David O'Kelly 4/5

Ms Uraiwan Keodara, July 2012: The reception staff were professional and friendly. The Goldsmid house is centrally located just minutes away from Victoria station and not too far from tourist attractions like Buckingham palace and Westminster. It's also quite a safe area - suitable for single travellers. The kitchen facilities are new and clean. The bathroom is small but it is clean and new, which I was particularly pleased about. Each guest has access to all the facilities she/he will need: one bed, chairs, desk, personal bathroom, communal kitchen, and the coin-operated laundry is just downstairs. The Goldsmid house is also only just across the road from the major supermarket Sainsbury's market. My stay was pleasant, and the next time I return to London, I will be sure to stay here again. 5/5

Mrs Jacqueline Williams, July 2012: I had the most wonderful stay. The room was clean, and the kitchen facilities were more than adequate. Excellent location and safe! But the best reason to stay here is the staff. Lina and Nicki and Steve were so helpful and friendly. The best experience I had staying in London. I would recommend this place to everyone! Mrs. Jacqueline Williams 5/5

Mr David Broderick, July 2012: Spotlessly clean, within walking distance of the city centre. This cannot be faulted for the price! 4/5

Dr Constandinos Mavromoustakis, July 2012: Great location with access to all central points. 5/5

Ms Natalie Jones, June 2012: Great location. Clean rooms and kitchen area - would definitely recommend!! 5/5

Mr Ashley Turnell, October 2011: Good location, good kitchen facilities, good value. Could have done with a tv room available or similar. 5/5

Miss Diana Shindler, September 2011: Good value for money and excellent location. Would definitely go back. 4/5

Mrs Meriel Sparks, September 2011: This was ideal for me as a single person on limited budget and spending as much time out as possible, though with opportunity for rest periods during the day.Staff were accommodating and pleasant, and the site was accessible to all forms of transport.I recommend to any like-minded travellers.Thank you. 4/5

Mr Jonathan Coleman, July 2011: Had a great stay! Very close to Victoria Station, less than a 3-minute walk. Lots of great shops, resturants. The room was well-kept. The staff was amazing. Arriving from the States around 9am, the Manager not only had the maids go directly to clean my room, but gave me access to a shower in the meantime. He even carried my bags! I've been in 5-star hotels with less service than that. Will stay here again! 5/5

I most definitely will check availability again for future visits. This was my first stay. Pls feed back to your people there a hi five! Cheers Andrew 4/5

Claudia Mühn, September 2010: I had a great experience at University Rooms. Perfect location, cleaness, security and confort were excellent for a short tourist stay in London. 5/5

Michael Eastoe, September 2010: A very practical solution to accommodation in London. Excellent central location surrounded with good restaurants and convenient transportation.Very helpful and friendly staff. I will certainly use this location again. Do you have any accommodation possibly in other locations with double rooms? 4/5

Luca Guidi, August 2010: excellent position!!! rooms are clean!! i love Goldsmid House!!! 4/5

Antonio BRUNO, August 2010: I've been in this college two weeks in summer time. I find it very comfortable for its position in the zone1, at only 250mt from the Victoria Station and the tube, and with the Gatwick Airport at only 30minutes by train. The room was clean and bed too. The staff is available with the customers. The standard of the rooms isn't too high but without excessive claims may be a good solution. 4/5

paola edvige piras, August 2010: ottima posizione, personale gentilissimo, camera e bagno molto puliti. stabile silenzioso. consigliato 5/5

Jonathan Heywood, August 2010: Excellent budget accommodation. My second stay here & I'd happily stay again. Good etiquette by other users - no late night noise at all. 4/5

Ms Emma D Waites, August 2010: Other guests I was sharing a kitchen with did not always wash up their plates, mugs, etc. I don't think it's fair that their dirty washing-up should fall on the cleaning staff. I would therefore suggest that the cleaning staff/wardens should report guests who are not cleaning up after themselves. 4/5

Emma Mustich, August 2010: A great deal -- no frills but perfectly comfortable! And a real bargain given the location. 4/5

Hazel O'Dea, August 2010: Room was noisy due to supermarket deliveries / rubbish collections during the early hours, and extremely warm - but the central location and good security were big plusses 4/5

maria genny caturegli, August 2010: I apologize for the delay in replying this survey. I have been staying at Astor College for several years in July, but this year I couldn't find place there. So I looked for a place in Internet and found Goldsmid House, which represented an excellent experience. In spite of being more expensive than Astor, the accomodations are much better and very suitable. Thank you. 5/5

Mrs K Holmes, August 2010: very convenient, safe , comfortable, good value accomodation. 5/5

Anne Mulready, August 2010: If you have stayed in London before you will appreciate that staying at Goldsmid House is the best location & value for money ever. I had the pleasure of staying here 10 days but extended my stay to 2 weeks to use as a base. The reception staff (Will & Charlotte) are extremely professional, friendly & helpful & I will never forget their kindness. My room was clean & I saved heaps of money by purchasing my meals from the Supermarket 1 minute away & utilizing the kitchen which I feel was of high standard. Also it was so convenient to have so many eateries nearby if I didn't feel like cooking. Victoria Station is the hub & buses & trains to all attractions were just around the corner. Would definitley stay here again & will highly recomend to all my friends in Australia. 5/5

Pollyanne Strange, July 2010: Clean, comfy and secure. So cheap and yet so central! 4/5

Faith Coppack, July 2010: The accomodation was clean and convienient, what more could you ask for? 5/5

Rowena Angela Aquino, July 2010: I had a wonderful stay at Goldsmid House. The location was excellent -- a couple minutes walk from Victoria Station, a short walk away from Buckingham Palace, and a short bus ride away from Big Ben. The room was basic but indeed very clean. The bathroom was tiny, but very functional and the shower had great water pressure. There were also many different restaurants and cafes nearby. If I have one complaint it would be regarding the noisy Sainsbury's delivery trucks that would come late at night and early in the morning. My room faced directly across from the Sainsbury's deliver garage and it was quite difficult to fall asleep with all the noise coming from the deliveries, and even more annoying being woken up by it again in the early morning. I realize that this is not at all the fault of Goldsmid House, but I thought I'd mention it as feedback. Many thanks to Goldsmid House for giving me a wonderful 'home' while in London for a few days. I will definitely stay there again when I return to London. 5/5

Pollyanne Strange, July 2010: Good size, very clean, great location. 5/5

Jennifer Kayahara, July 2010: I enjoyed my stay apart from the fact that signaling problems led to train delays, and my delayed train led me to arrive five minutes after eight on the first day, by which time the office was shut down, and so I was forced to seek alternative accommodations. I knew going in, of course, that I couldn't check in after 20:00 and so I suppose it was my own fault (though I wasn't expecting my train to be so late!), but it was stressful and expensive and I'm not sure whether I'd risk a similar event in the future. Apart from that, the location was excellent and the facilities were generally as expected. 4/5

Neda Jajeh, July 2010: I love it that I got the large room with a view on the street, the most horrible thing were the Sainbury's' trucks coming to load the supermarket at like 1 am. Otherwise the location is very good. 4/5

Lorna Maria Murphy, July 2010: Mattress was v. thin which made bed hard and difficult to sleep on. No number given to call out of hours if needed to. Good central location. Easy to book. 3/5

R A Craik, July 2010: Very comfortable. Special mention must be made in praise of the Reception staff who were unfailingly pleasant and helpful. Room facing the street a little noisy but not bad for central London. 4/5

Bruce Townsend, July 2010: Very good location. A bit warm inside the building, but I understand AC is rare in London and there was a bit of a heatwave. 4/5

Mr C ST CLAIR A STEWART, July 2010: My experience was all that I could have desired, the value excellent. I shall definitely try it again. I would only say that in a heat wave I should have preferred a room the window of which did not give onto a pedestrian area at ground level. At a higher level I would have felt confident in leaving the window open at night. 5/5

Katsuhiko Keida, July 2010: I really enjoyed staying at Goldsmith House. The location was most important for me of this stay and it was excellent. And everything which I needed was there, so I don't have any complains. Though speeds of internet sometimes made me irritated, voucher service of internet was great helpful for me. 4/5

jenny hill, July 2010: cannot praise the service highly enough. Have rec. the service to all colleagues. Not only were the rooms of exceptional quality and superb location, but the staff were so friendly and helpful. 5/5

Allegra Grace Davies, July 2010: Have booked to stay again, it was very good value for money, very concenient and I was very surprised to have my room cleaned, supplied with loo rolls and fresh linen every monday. Highly recommended. Thank you 5/5

Sharon Hirsch, July 2010: The room was clean. No fan, certainly no air conditioning and not much air. The building was spotlessly clean and about a ten minute walk from Victoria Staiton. For the money, a good value. 4/5

Melanie Kemp, July 2010: Very good accomodation if you are travelling alone. Accomodation was still new and well maintained. 5/5

Balraj Singh Sihota, June 2010: Good Value Room. Perhaps though there should be access to Television facilities but other than that it was pleasant. Good location 5/5

Chris Arculeo, June 2010: The stay was one of many I have taken over the last two years, The policy change to allow stays of less than three days will result in me staying more often. Reception staff were very helpful and the room was very clean. Areas for improvement should include the repair of the reception main gate which is defective. Also provision of wifi iin the bedrooms would be most useful. Otherwise a pleasant stay and I will continue to stay in the future. 4/5

Elizabeth D Pena, March 2010: everyone was very nice and helpful. Thank you. 4/5

Robert Towns, March 2010: I couldn't have been happier with the accommodation for the price. So central, clean room, good shower. I couldn't book the room for the last night of my stay in London so had to pay twice as much in a hotel for a far inferior room with no ensuite and a walk up three floors. 5/5

Andrew Bateman, February 2010: Definitely recommended ! 4/5

James Downton, February 2010: Exceptional 5/5

Irene Jaunzemis, February 2010: No complaints at all. Very good for the budget traveller. 4/5

Simon Thomas, February 2010: Great location and use of the shared kitched was a big help in keeping the cost down 4/5

Mark Boardman, February 2010: I had a great stay. The place is very well run, all the staff were friendly and welcoming and the room, though small, was clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay again. 4/5

Elizabeth McLoughlin, CBE, February 2010: this was really good, convenient and inexpensive. The kitchen facilities were first class. The only drawback was that the room was really hot but it was summer 5/5

Caroline Khachatoorian, February 2010: Convenient location near Victoria Station (tube & bus stops, shops, & dining), good value for your money, en-suite rooms, kitchen & laundry facilities, and friendly staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, only wish there were double beds in each room, but staff were accommodating in booking our rooms alongside each other. Will stay again. 5/5

Mike Mcloughlin, February 2010: Fantastic budget option in London Town. Very close to tube, easy to find, polite staff, and spotless room. A+ !! I hope to return. 5/5

Yuri Nakamura, February 2010: Location is very good. Air conditioner was not working properly and room was too hot. But overall it was satisfactory and definitely good value for money. 3/5

Richard Craik, February 2010: The tiniest showerroom I have ever encountered - but it worked. I must compliment the staff on duty at reception desk (all of them) who were always friendly and helpful. 4/5

WEBER, February 2010: For such low budget, no one should complain. Was very glad to stay at this location in the centre of London. 4/5

Kevin G. Gallagher, September 2009: great opportunity to see a London dorm and UNBELIEVABLE location! thanks glad you could store our luggage for a few hours - the website and mailings said you could not - that helped ALOT 5/5

Damian Rice, August 2009: Very pleasant staff, convenient location. Overall, very good. 4/5

Taryn Presley, August 2009: I was so happy with my stay here! The directions in my confirmation email were excellent! I'd been really worried about finding it with all my luggage but I just followed what was in the email and found it with no problems at all. The room itself was a pleasant surprise. I stayed here after a couple weeks making my way around Scotland and France, and this room was bigger, cleaner, and quieter than anywhere else I stayed on the trip. I really appreciated that. Also, I couldn't have asked for a better location! Thank you! 5/5

Masato Matsutani, August 2009: I had a very pleasant stay in Goldsmid House. I hope to use it again if I have any chance. 4/5

Mrs Eithne Johnstone, July 2009: Only a very minor criticism: the bed could be repositioned, making it possible to control the lights without getting up! The switch position suggests that this was the intention. Otherwise everything was first-rate, spotlessly clean, and a real bargain for central London. I hope to return. The staff were very helpful - my special thanks to Morag who provided extra pillows! 5/5

Katie Griffith, July 2009: Thank you to all the staff for all your help. Really enjoyed my stay. The place was quiet, clean and situated so close to the city centre. The noise of the surrounding area was loud but after a few days you wouldn't know that it was there. 4/5

Jo Brook, July 2009: Excellent location and value for money -- obviously basic, but new and clean and spacious with reliable wired internet connection. Booking a business training course last minute on a budget, this was a great alternative to the cramped shared-bathroom B&B rooms left on offer (usually for higher prices). Internet pricing seemed a little expensive for a 2-night stay (charged at a minimum of a week) and a pay-as-go system would have suited me better. (Hall was self-catering so could not rate breakfast.) 5/5

Mr. M J Bowdler, July 2009: Many thanks. clean, neat, tidy and well placed at a price that I can't argue with. I will book again. 5/5

Luis Arana, July 2009: Almost perfect; too bad staying at the 7th floor and one day of broken lift; ok, nobody's fault. For a stay of more than three days, one day cleaning of the bathroom at least would be welcome. WiFi Internet service would be really usefull. Thank you very much, a place to recomend and to come back. 4/5

Elizabeth Perry, July 2009: The room was very tidy and an excellent price for a single ensuite room in Victoria. I have recommended it to my family and will definetly stay here again. 4/5

Vygantas stankevicius, July 2009: Clean, good location, litle bit noisy when window is opening. 4/5
