We guarantee that all our feedback is genuine and can only be submitted by people who have booked through our websites.
Dr Mark Williams, April 2014: Shame about the checking in after 2pm - especially if you've come a long way - and the lack of shampoo/toothpaste should be advertised more clearly. Otherwise a good experience. Clean rooms, much closer to the university than any hotel, and definitely value for money.
Mr Robert Palin, April 2014: Great value for money. If it included a tv it would be exceptional value for money.
Patricia M Fenn, September 2013: I had an amazing time, food, facilities and service were excellent.
Mrs joyce gibson, September 2013: Excellent. All 12 members of my group thoroughly enjoyed both the accommodation and the breakfast. The rooms were spacious, always clean and well furnished, with very comfortable beds and loads of hot water in the bathroom at all times. We also appreciated the kettles and constant supply of tea, milk and coffee. The breakfasts were delicious, with an extensive choice and very pleasant efficient and friendly service. You compare very favourably with other university halls we have stayed in. Thank you
Mrs Jean Cooper, September 2013: I was particularly impressed with uni staff, the porter who first met us was especially pleasant and professional, the staff in breakfast were friendly and served up a good meal. Made the stay more enjoyable.
Ms Rita Corbett, September 2013: My friend and I enjoyed our stay and would use your service again
in the future as well as recommending it to others. The reception staff
were friendly, efficient and helpful.
Mrs Patricia Mangwana, October 2012: A very enjoyable stay. A couple of minor problems in the rooms were resolved quickly and we particularly appreciated the card telling us that they had been attended to. We shall definitely be back next time we are in York.
Dr Peter Atkinson, October 2012: A pleasant stay, reasonably priced at a reduced rate. At this price I would certainly stay in James again.
Mr Brendan Hickey, October 2012: I enjoyed my stay. Thanks
Ms Geraldine McCarroll, October 2012: we had a lovely time at York and the uni was terrific - great location, lovely food and really pleasant. I would recommend it to anyone.
Ms Fiona Macklin, September 2012: Good clean room.
Mrs Alicia Broggi, September 2012: My whole stay at James College was lovely, particularly because of the fantastic service. I arrived about an hour early, but was let into my (clean) room. The kitchen staff went above and beyond my expectations to accommodate my dietary preferences. Then, I was even a bit late in checking out, and while the house keeping staff arrived punctually, they insisted that I not feel rushed and seemed to clean the other rooms on the hall before mine. Indeed, each interaction I had with the staff was marked by friendliness and helpfulness.
Mr Declan Baugh, September 2012: Nice place. Cheap. Small room, but it is what i expected as it were student dorms. Nice big english breakfast included.
Dr Saqib Hasan, September 2012: Very helpful staff - provided breakfast in a bag during month of fasting to allow me something to eat when I could. Shower is a little funny as it sends water everywhere (its a wetroom) but takes a while to dry. Walls paper-thin. But generally good experience.
Ms Christina Brindley, August 2012: Amazing value for money. The food available to guests at Vanbrugh College is also great. The vegetarian dishes were some of the nicest I've eaten anywhere and I eat out a lot. My compliments to the chef! Never has a work trip been made more enjoyable.
Mr Kirit Talati, August 2012: This was a birthday treat from my daughter who accompnied me. We enjoyed our stay at James College. All people we came across were very helpful and welcomming. We loved the university atmosphere. We were very pleased to find that library facility was availble when it was raining We certainly recommend the accomodation as an excellent value for the money. My daughter would have liked kitchen facility available to keep milk in refrigerator. Kirit Talati
Miss Maria Montserrat Guerra Martin, July 2012: Staying at James College has been a very nice and friendly experience!. Thank you very much all staff for their effort and compromise.
Mr jeffrey ward, July 2012: Very pleased with my room, ideal for my purposes, very pleasant outlook across the lake. Will certainly use again.
Dr Katalin Fehér, July 2012: This accommodation was great for me with lovely environment and nice staff. I asked before arriving a hairdryer to the room service and they gave it. Thank you so much:)
Ms SHEILA HOGG, July 2012: Pleasant and helpful staff, very comfortable bed. Whole experience was very satisfactory could only have been improved by providing free Wi Fi access.
Mrs Gillian Loughran, July 2012: Would use this service again. Thank you
Mr Tony Dowling, September 2011: A lovely campus, relaxed and friendly staff and an excellent breakfast. Highly recommended.
Ms Patricia Gwynn-Jones, September 2011: My room was clean and the bed comfortable. Staff were very helpful. The swipe card door system was really efficient. I would have liked to have access to the kitchen to keep my milk in a fridge, but the doors were locked. Thanks for the electronic notes about plastic mugs - I took the hint and brought my own.
Mr Rod Singleton, August 2011: A very enjoyable stay. Very clean rooms with everything we needed. Thanks also for the tour round the Campus which was very informative for my students.
Mr MARK HOWELL, August 2011: The catering and reception staff were excellent
The timing of breakfast made an early start difficult though
Mr raymond ball, August 2011: very smooth booking procedure. accommodation just as i expected. most enjoyable. i'll be back.
Miss Tamsin Woodward, August 2011: Very easy to book online. Reception was open 24hrs which was very helpful. Location was perfect for us. Didn't have chance for breakfast as my event began before breakfast was served. Accommodation was basic but suited the purpose of my stay. Perfect location and very convenient. Will stay again.
Geoff Kent, September 2010: Room functional but clean and nice touches with towels /soap etc, reception staff very friendly also the breakfast excellent - overall unbeatable value thanks
Cynthia R Millward, August 2010: Staff vert pleasant and helpful. Evening meal very good value; I left too early for breakfast so no comment possible 'tho no adverse comment from friend who did remain for breakfast
Glenys Stevens, August 2010: The campus was very tranquil and I enjoyed walking by the lake. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was a good size and clean but there was mould in the shower. I appreciated having a radio, kettle, bedside lamp and a snowy white duvet cover. Ditch the plastic mugs, though! Overall, it was very reasonable for the price.
eliza henderson, August 2010: The people were really nice and it was a great arrangement. I wish I would have been able to stay longer!
S Nicholson, July 2010: Facilities clean and tidy. Real cups and saucers would have been so much nicer - if I had known they were plastic in the room I would have brought my own mug!
Breakfast very good and staff were polite and friendly.
