Introduction

The Victorian Town House, renovated to an exceptionally high standard, is set in the heart of the World Heritage site of Durham's majestic Cathedral and Castle. The guesthouse has a picturesque setting in a conservation area, overlooking leafy Wharton Park, yet is only a 5 minute walk from Durham city centre.

The house is beautifully furnished with contemporary features yet still retains its original traditional Victorian character. The bedrooms are all individually designed in rich opulent colours and soft furnishings. Each room has a large en suite with plenty of space to shower and change.

Discounted rates are available for longer stays, single occupancy rates and additional occupancy rates for the family room. Please see Available Rooms for the promotion codes. Regretfully children under the age of 5 are not accepted and sorry no pets allowed.

History to the present day

The original part of the house was built around 1854 and the remainder completed around 1910 and although the house has been extensively altered over the years, it still retains many of the original Victorian features.

Food and Drinks

Guests can choose between either a full English or a lighter continental breakfast. Recently awarded a 'Taste Durham' award (highest quality assured and local produce champion) by 'Visit Britain' in recognition of the quality of the breakfasts.

Situated in the city centre, only a five minute walk or drive from many good eating places, recommendations and bookings can be made for you.

Other facilities

Private off street parking plus on street parking available.

Complimentary hospitality tray and hairdryer in each room with iron and ironing board available.
